Saturday, May 4th began with a 4:30am wake-up call. Graydon, along with the other kids and teachers in his running club, were running in the Indy 5k. The bus was leaving school at 5:05am and the race began at 7am. We arrived to the race location a little after 6am. While Graydon made his way to the start line with his club, the rest of us hung back in the van for a little bit of extra rest.
There were quite a few kids from our school participating in the 5k.

And go! The people kept coming and coming! There were literally thousands. In the mass of people, we were never even able to spot Graydon.
I didn't order photos, but these were emailed to me from the event photographer. Low resolution and a watermark, but I'm grateful for some shots of him running.

It was a bit rainy, but that didn't slow him down.

Hope Elementary Running Club
His official time was 31:32. I was so impressed. He ran the entire 3.1 miles!
We were probably back home before 11am. Super productive morning for a Saturday. But that was just the beginning of our day. In the afternoon, Andy, Curtis, and I agreed to help out with our town's Civil War Days. One of our church members is very active at keeping Hope history alive and she asked for our help with playing some characters.
Curtis did such a great job memorizing his lines.
Finally, that evening we were treated to the academic banquet at Bella's school where the top 10% in each grade were honored and served dinner by their teachers. Part of the evening's entertainment was a video of all the kids. Here is where Bella showed up. The producers asked all of the kids to make funny faces.
Each of the kids received a pin.
We are so proud of all the effort Bella puts in to her school work. And all of that work is paying off!
