Field trips, T-Ball, and Farm Visits

Curtis's preschool class took a field trip to a local children's museum.

The boys are now playing T-Ball!  They had their first practice last Wednesday.

Looking forward to a good season!

We found this little guy in our basement.  I've been calling it a lizard, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.  They seem to be around here because I saw a different colored one along our deck the next day.  They're a little creepy looking, but they seem kind of afraid of people; so they haven't bothered us at all (except by actually being in our house).


Friday and Saturday were beautiful.  While I raked the yard, Curtis grabbed his pillow and blanket and found a perfect place to relax.


Now that the weather has warmed up, we're continuing our farm visits.  Here is a little calf.  It's a Hereford.  They stand out because of their "red" hair.


The kids fed some hay to the cattle.


Those tongues sure move fast!

Easter Weekend

We had such a lovely Easter this year.  It helped that the whole weekend was sunny.  I always find it to be kind of a letdown when it rains on Easter.

We dyed eggs on Saturday.


I wasn't paying attention while I was at the store and just grabbed a generic egg-dying kit.  But this one turned out to be different.  There was no dissolving little pellets into vinegar and water.  The kit came with individual plastic bags and dye that you drop in.  Swoosh it all around with your fingers and then you're done.


It wasn't quite the same experience; but it was a lot less messy!  I'll try to pay closer attention next year.




But our eggs did turn out pretty!








After our dyeing, Bella and Graydon sent themselves on an outdoor scavenger hunt.


They found all sorts of treasures out there.






Easter Sunday!


The kids wore their outfits from Auntie Mary's wedding.  They worked out perfectly.










Our neighbors stopped by after church to bring Easter baskets to the kids.  They were a hit - especially the squirt guns!








We're a little squinty in the harsh noon sun; but here we all are!




Then we got changed into our comfy clothes and hunted for Easter baskets.  Curtis found his first in the bathroom.  His basket contained some Legos, a transformer, goggles, and some candy.


Graydon found his next in the guest room closet.  He got a transformer, Ninja Turtle duct tape, goggles, and candy.


Bella specifically told us that she wanted a challenge.  So we gave her one.  She looked in the linen closet a few times before we finally had to give her hints to look a little harder.  We made her do a little digging.


Bella's basket contained a maze ball, hair accessories, goggles, and candy.


Later on, we had our very first Kilps Family Easter Egg Hunt!


Andy and I hid the eggs and then let the kiddos loose throughout the yard.


We had about 80 eggs and tried to hide some of them pretty good to make the hunt last longer.






The eggs were filled with slips of paper for prizes (candy, $1, and toys from the dollar section at Target).  There was also a grand prize egg whose finder won $5.  Bella found that one.






I made us an Easter dinner with ham and some side dishes and then we went for a walk.

We began in the cemetery by the church.


The kids found more treasures.


And we ended in the spring woods behind our house.


Peaceful and relaxing - that was our Easter day. I was sad to see it end. It was perfect!
