On Tuesday, September 24th at the age of 44-year-old, we became first-time home buyers! This was just the beginning of a lot of changes in store for Andy and our whole family in the month to come. It would be over a month before we officially moved in, but this was the day when this house became ours.
It felt really important to me that all five of us be together for that very first night in the new house. Bella was in town for fall break a little over a week after we closed on the house, so that was our chance to make that happen. We only had one night because the day after Bella got home, Curtis left for a vacation to Myrtle Beach with a friend and his family.
We didn't have any furniture, but we did have an air mattress, a futon cushion, and our TV and DVD player from the basement. After a meal at a Chinese buffet in town, we camped out in the loft, played some Wii games, and fell asleep to a Harry Potter movie.
The futon cushion was brought downstairs the net morning so we'd have some seating for breakfast.
Poor Graydon actually started feeling sick that morning and ended up sick for the first few days of Fall Break.
There was (as is) still a lot of work to do to make this house feel like our home, but here it all is at the very beginning.
