December Happenings

Last Friday night, our boys JV and Varsity teams played Edinburgh. They are our biggest rival. It was a big game and, being a Friday night, the gym was pretty packed. Curtis joined the pep band for the event.

The game was super intense. Andy and I actually had a Christmas party to attend, so we didn't arrive until the fourth quarter. The score was constantly within one or two baskets. Every time someone scored, the gym would erupt in applause and cheer - lots of Edinburgh fans were there, so the noise levels were equal for both teams. The game ended in a tie and had to go into overtime. Even in overtime, the score went back and forth, but at the end, Hauser won by one point! The final score was 67-66. This was a big win for our school because Edinburgh has a higher ranking. It was definitely an exciting game and one that people will likely be talking about for a while. From the angle of this photo, you can't see the student section of the gym, but it was packed!

Oscar joined us in the living room the other night. He's such a difficult bunny to get good pictures of thanks to all that hair!

He snuggled on Andy's lap while we watched a movie.

One of the gifts Bella wanted for her birthday were tickets to the Nutcracker. We went together this past Sunday and loved it!

The performance was amazing! I was completely mesmerized and it felt like the show went by so fast. Now I've been playing Nutcracker music nonstop. I forgot how much I love that music.

I received some pretty cookies made by a local bakery from a family at school.

I've been working on this 1,000 piece puzzle for the past few weeks and finally finished it! The sky and snow pieces looked really similar, which made those portions really tricky.

The winter sickies got a hold of Graydon today. Thankfully, we are on winter break and still have a few days until Christmas. Hoping he feels better by then!

Crazy Hair and Band Concert

The boys had their winter band concert. Their band is tiny, but these are great kids and I love hearing them play together.

Graydon also participates in the jazz band. They meet after school once a week. Again, it's a small group, but they sounded really good!

It was Crazy Hair Day at school, so Graydon decided to straighten his hair. Here is the 'Before.'

It was definitely a process.

Just have to finish up with the bangs. If this was the 80's, I might have just left it!

After!

And a bonus shot: one day I showed up to school accidentally twinning with one of my besties!

Brockhaus Christmas

We celebrated our Brockhaus Christmas on Saturday, December 10th. The kids all had weekend commitments (basketball and band) so they stayed back with Andy and I made a solo trip up to Wisconsin for the celebration.

Branko loves pickles and his mama!

I got some extra Conrad snuggles. He has already grown so much!

Just like when we were growing up, Grandma's basement makes the perfect venue for our family celebration.

Matching jammies for Generation 4! My kids each have a pair too!

Birthday buddies!

Santa Claus came early!

The adults did raffle prizes as opposed to a gift exchange. Lots of great prizes!

There was even a craft table and coffee bar (not pictured).

I love family time so much!

Carmel Christkindlmarkt

It was a pretty fully day for Bella. She was up early that morning to take her SATs. Right after her test finished, she had a basketball game to play in. That game wasn’t originally in the schedule, but was added about a week or so prior. It made the day a little tight because we already had tickets to to ice skate at 3:30pm in Carmel. We did end up arriving pretty late for our ice skating reservation, but Bella played her best basketball game so far this year - so it was worth it. And we still got to enjoy some ice skating before our reservation window was over.

I was excited to get my hot mulled wine in a boot!

This is called the Savory Chimney and it was delicious!

We had such a fun afternoon/evening together. I love days like this.
