Bella has officially been around for one decade.  Ten years old!!!

This year, in particular, she is seeming less and less little girl. . . and more and more young lady.  She is mostly sweet with a teensy bit of salt.  Which keeps things interesting.  This year, she learned to do her own laundry and is starting to get a few cooking lessons.  Her basketball game has improved tremendously and she is getting much more confident on the court.   If you ask her what she wants to be when she's older, she'll answer, "a farmer".  And her favorite food is a baked potato.

In the recent months, she's become super interested in gymnastics and I can often find her in the backyard running to do a cartwheel, front handspring, and just this past week, she mastered the back bend and kick over.

She is doing awesome in school, but tends to push herself really hard - harder than Andy and I would like her to.  But she's driven and wants to do well at everything.  Which she often does.

She is growing up, that's for sure.  But she still likes to be tucked in at night.  We talk about the day, pray, do "our thing" (where we say to each other. . . 'love you, night night, sweet dreams, ok, amen!') and then I wind up her music box, turn on her dream light, and turn out the light.  I guess she still has some 'little girl' left in her.

Happy 10th birthday, Isabella!  We love you so much!

November Days

Teaching Bella how to cook a little.
IMG_2912

Bella competed in the Elementary Spell Bowl.  Our school was up against about 20ish other county schools.  They didn't place, but they all worked hard.  They had 750 words to study!  Bella pushed herself really hard, often wanting to stay up late and study.  I think we're all feeling relieved that it's over!

Our family enjoyed a visit from Mimi Jane last week!  Our few days together were packed with events like the Spell Bowl, Hope's Christmas of Yesteryear, basketball games, our church's Turkey Supper, eating lunch at school with the kids, a little bit of shopping, and eating out.  We also squeezed in a couple of movies and games.  Busy weekend!  But we always love having her here with us.

Curtis is all ready for Thanksgiving.

This is the only actual photo that I took from our Thanksgiving Day.

We had the Meades over.  Laura and I shared the baking duties and we enjoyed quite a feast! We watched football and played football.  There was some Thanksgiving trivia and a game of Bingo.  And a gator ride was thrown in there too.  Super fun Thanksgiving.

Basketball

This is how we'll be spending our Saturday mornings for the next two months.  Both Bella and Graydon are playing basketball this season.  After being a soccer coach this fall, I'm enjoying watching from the bleachers.

Both kids did great at their first games.

Next year Curtis will get to join them on the court.

Bella's Gets Braces!

I noticed that Bella's front teeth haven't been growing in straight.  At Bella's recent dentist appointment, I asked his opinion.  He x-rayed her teeth and discovered that her top eye-teeth (cuspids) are not straight down, but slanted towards her front teeth.  He explained that the adult tooth will put pressure on the baby tooth, causing the root to dissolve and the baby tooth to become loose and eventually fall out.  In Bella's case, with the direction that her adult eye-teeth are slanting, they are not putting any pressure on the roots of her baby teeth.  The thought was to bracket her front four teeth to create more space for the adult tooth to eventually grow in.  At that point (if I'm understanding everything correctly), if her teeth don't come out on their own, they may have to get pulled; but then the adult teeth will hopefully grow in straight once more room has been created for them.  Long story short, she needed braces on her top four teeth (same as me when I was 10).

And here is our little girl with her braces on.  I think they make her look so much older!

Halloween 2015

Halloween morning started a little rough for Curtis.  He woke up and threw up.  He was pretty miserable most of the morning.

Pumpkin carving time!

IMG_5408

Curtis rallied a little for this.
IMG_5409

Bella dressed up as a mouse school the day before and still had her whiskers on.
IMG_5411

Ooey-gooey mess!
IMG_5414

The kids drew the faces and the dads carved the pumpkins.
IMG_5415

Watch out for those crazy guys!
IMG_5416

The kids raked a huge pile of leaves.

IMG_5407

And they also created a play that they later performed for us.  Bella was "The Wicked Witch of the Midwest".

There were ghosts and zombies.

The End.

It's starting to get dark.  Just about time for trick-or-treating!  Our jack-o-lanterns were ready for Halloween night.  This is Bella's.

Bella was Tweedle-Dee this year.

Tyler was Tweedle-Dum.
IMG_5453

Graydon originally wanted to be a minion.  While I was looking online for an idea of how to make a minion costume, we saw this idea and he changed his mind.  Here is our vending machine!  A bonus to this costume was all of the snacks we got to eat while making it!

Curtis had kept his food down since lunch time, so we decided that he could go trick-or-treating.  He was supposed to be a Gingerbread Man, but when it was time to get his costume on, he changed his mind and decided to be a cowboy instead.
IMG_5437

At least he wore the Gingerbread costume at school the day before.
IMG_2911

This crew is ready to get some candy!
IMG_5467

They each got a pretty good amount of candy.  We finished the evening off by watching "The Great Pumpkin."

Happy Halloween!

The Pumpkin Farm

We were a little off our fall game this year. With Disney taking up two of our weekends in October, we completely missed apple picking and the pumpkin farm got pushed back until just before Halloween. We actually went after school on a Monday.
IMG_5366

IMG_5368

Most of the pumpkins had already been picked, so there was only a small pile to choose from.
IMG_5369

After picking our pumpkins out, we went through the corn maze.

And we completed the evening with dinner at Panera Bread. Not a bad way to spend a school night. :)
