Grandma Rose
June 25, 1917 - April 17, 2008
Thursday morning, my grandma passed away. Bella and I took a flight out to Wisconsin on Friday evening and her funeral was held on Sunday afternoon. I cried both sad and happy tears that day: sad because I'll miss her and happy because I know she's in heaven. One of the hymns played at her funeral was 'How Great Thou Art'. The last verse:
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
That is the verse that made me cry happy tears. I thought about my Grandma in heaven and how joy-filled she must be at the sight of Jesus that these words were probably on her lips as well.
Us kids will always remember Grandma as a great cook. Our favorite meals that she made were mostaccioli or chop suey with her famous coleslaw and then pudding in the cloud for dessert. She loved spending time with her grandkids and had a special place in her heart for Isabella. Here are a couple of pictures with her and Bella.

We celebrated Grandma's 90th birthday this past summer. Here she is with my brother Jeff and sister Lori. I think she looked wonderful for being 90 years old.
Over the past couple of days, we've been at my grandma's apartment going through some of her things. Bella found her jewelery and had a field day. We can just imagine my grandma laughing and clapping her hands at the sight of Bella all decked out.
Bella and I will be in Wisconsin for the rest of the week. We are really enjoying this extra family time.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear that your Grandma Rose passed away, but I am thankful that you and Bella got to go out to be with your family. I hope you have a safe rest of the trip and enjoy the family time! We hope to see you soon!

I'm sorry for your grandma. But at least she met your daughter and your daughter met her. My grandmas didn't meet mine, and I'm sure that they would be so happy...
