Our New Fireplace!

The day before the fireplace installation guys were showing up, we moved the furniture to get our living room all ready. Previously, our TV was on this wall.

They're here!

A little bit of progress.

By the end of the day, we had a functioning gas fireplace!

Before the cement board went up, I thought it might be fun to put a time capsule in there somewhere. But then we thought it might not hold up due to the heat of the fireplace. Instead, we got out some sharpies and started writing and drawing.

It looked like this for about a week.

Then Andy put the cement board up.

And after another week or so, the stone went up! A friend from church helped Andy get started and then he completed the rest on his own.

Done!

And we are loving it! Everything just seems that much better by the fire: family games, reading, movies, etc. It has a way of just bringing us all together.

Your living room looks amazing with the new fireplace, and it is so much cozier. Choosing to write on the studs was an amazing idea, and hopefully future generations will enjoy it. Gathering the family together always seems difficult, but those of all ages seem to love gazing into a fire. This beautiful fireplace looks like it will help create a lot of great family memories.
