Weekend Visit

My mom and youngest sister, Lori, drove out to see us for a long weekend visit. They arrived on Thursday night and left Sunday morning. On Friday, we decided to take a spontaneous trip to New York City. The day was fun and exhausting. The crowds were crazy and I'm sure that we must have walked miles while we were there, but it was really fun to see all the sights.

One of the first spots we visited was Ground Zero. The area across the street, behind the fences, is where the two towers used to be. It's such a huge open area now.
This is, what I assume, the temporary 9/11 memorial until they solidfy plans for a permanent memorial.
The fences are covered with photographs and a timeline of events from 9/11. A homeless man sat along the fence and played 'Amazing Grace' with his flute. The music really contributed to the somber scene before us.
We also made it to the more lively areas like Time Square and Broadway. Here is me with Lori.
Isabella just soaked it all in. She was such a good girl throughout the whole day.

We ate dinner at TGI Friday's. The restaurant has four floors and we ate on the top floor. Never, have I needed to take an elevator inside of a restaurant.

All in all, we had a very fun time; but we were very thankful to get back to Pennsylvania, to our quiet apartment, and relax a little. On Saturday, we shopped and ate on Main Street, ordered a pizza at night, and watched a movie. We definitely needed a more subdued day after our busy day on Friday.
