Happenings. . .

There's been a lot going on with our little family over these past couple of weeks.

Graydon Happenings:
He had a doctor check-up at the beginning of the month.  Our little guy is growing up in height just fine - two inches in the past three months.  He is now 34 inches tall and in the 75th percentile!  His weight however, that's a different story.  He didn't even gain one pounds in these past three months and his percentile dropped from 25th to 10th.  He currently weighs 23 pounds 1 ounce.

Our doctor isn't too concerned at this point because he is growing in inches, which means he is still getting proper nutrition.  She just wants us to try pushing foods like cheese, peanut butter, avocado, etc. and we'll see how things are at his two-year check-up.

Part of me just wonders if he is already getting Daddy's high metabolism.  We'll see how things look in the next few months.

Another big event in Graydon's life is that he got his first haircut last Saturday.  Here he is before:
The summer's humidity gave Graydon adorable curls.  With the humidity gone, his hair just started to look messy.  I tried to push this off for as long as I could, but it was time.
Here he is after.  Sort of.  Andy did end up taking a little more off the top a few days later.  I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I'll admit - I was a little sad that the curls were gone.  But he does look so handsome.  (And like such a big boy).

Bella Happenings

I went with Bella on a class field trip to the Adventure Aquarium.

We saw all sorts of fish, sharks, sting ray, seals, penguins, etc.  It was nice to do an activity with just her (and her school friends).

Unfortunately, she had a bad dream about the jellyfish the other night.  The price you pay for a little education.  :)

Later in the week, she had a visit from her friend Katelyn who moved away last spring.  These two played for hours at the park and were very sad to have to say goodbye again.

Curtis Happenings

He continues to be one of the sweetest little babies that I know.

He had one of his best nights of sleep last week, going from 9pm - 6:30am.

He still is up usually once and sometimes twice, though.  And it often takes him a little while to actually fall asleep at night.

We'll get there.

Family Happenings

I feel like these days have been crazy busy lately. So I'm very thankful that we could steal away some family time to go apple picking.

Bella picked pretty much all of our apples.

Graydon found all the stray apples on the ground and tossed them around like baseballs.  Such a boy.

We really couldn't have asked for a more beautiful fall day.

Later on we made some mini caramel apples and apple pie.

In the groove. . .

I entered a happy creative place.  Curtis's scrapbook has officially begun.

We are having more internet issues at the house again (I am currently on a church computer).  I am about ready to do away with wireless as we always have so many problems with it.  Hopefully, one way or another, things will be worked out soon (cause we've had a full week and I have lots of photos to share).  Until then. . .

Don't be too grossed out. . .

8 years of marriage, 3 months of life

Two days ago, we celebrated our eighth anniversary.  (A sneaky little lady made her way into our photo). Some friends from church came to watch all three kids which allowed us to go out for a nice dinner. We talked, over coffee, about our eight years and all that we've been through together. It's been a great ride and we're looking forward to more of it!

On the same day as our anniversary, this young boy turned three months old!  He giggled at me for the first time today.  I just love being his mommy.
(Please try to ignore the fact that he just spit up all over himself.)

Flower Girl

Miss Bella played the role of Flower Girl today.

This attempt went much better than almost two years ago at Auntie Jodi's wedding.

She nailed it!!!

I have decided that Graydon can't get mad at me when he's older and doesn't have a ton of pictures from this stage in his life.  I kept trying to take his photo and the only time he even looked at me was when his big cup was in front of his face.

Andy and Bella had a little date night tonight.  They both went to the reception. . .

. . . and I stayed home with the boys.

(I know, I know.  Again, no pants on this kid.  For what it's worth, I just changed his diaper and soon after was going to get his pajamas on.  Pants seemed kind of pointless at that point).
Out of all my kids right now, I would say that Bella is my lowest maintenance.  She can do more things for herself and I can reason with her.  But tonight, with just Graydon and Curtis, was so easy.  Graydon played nicely - no screaming, fit throwing, crying, etc.  Bella is an awesome big sister who loves her little brothers - and I know that they love her.  But I could tell that Graydon was enjoying the freedom of kind of "ruling" the house tonight.  It very rarely occurs when Graydon is around and Bella isn't (he naps while she is at preschool in the afternoon).  He could play with whatever he wanted and no one was going to take anything away or tell him what to do.  I also got some one-on-one time with him (also very rare) while Curtis slept.  It was a pleasant evening for all.

This blog has been hijacked!

It's Graydon here.
Figured I'd take over the blog for a bit. Bella had a whole post devoted to her going to school. Curtis had a post about his doctor appointment. What about me? As the middle kid in this family, I have to do what I can to make sure I get noticed around here. If that includes posting a picture of myself in nothing but a diaper, then so be it.
If you like photos of me then you're in for a treat.

Here's another of me in a diaper. My mom is a real slacker when it comes to keeping me dressed.
If there was sound to this picture, you'd be hearing "hoe-ee". (Translation: "Hold me")

I think it's pretty cool having a little brother. I did go through a phase when I liked to hit him a lot, but I don't do that as much anymore.
I know my mom loves it when she catches me doing this. This is what I do when Mom tells me to smile for a picture. Can't make it too easy for her.

Of course, here and there she does catch me in my happy moments.
I'm out of photos now, but I'll be back with more if I think this blog needs another dose of Graydon.

Check-up Time!

2 months old!!!
There was a newborn baby in the office at the same time as us today. I couldn't help but take a peek at the tiny thing. It really put into perspective how much Curtis has grown already. He now weighs 13 lbs. 2 oz. (75th percentile) and is 25 in. (95th percentile). Not a newborn anymore.

He did great when I woke him up from a nap by stripping him down to the diaper to get weighed. He was fine with the doctor poking and prodding him all over and even showed us a few grins. But when that nurse came with the shots - he screamed his little head off and turned shades of red that I'd never seen him in before. Poor baby. It broke my heart.

Shots aside, the check-up went great and we have a healthy little guy on our hands.

Bella's First Day of Preschool. . .

We enrolled Bella in preschool last fall. Initially, preschool wasn't something that was even on my radar. I never went. Plus, I'm a stay-at-home-mom. In my mind, preschool was for kids whose parents both worked.

But we had a pretty shy little girl on our hands who very rarely wanted to be separated from us. I had visions of dropping Bella off on her first day of kindergarten and her clinging to us in fear of this new and potentially scary experience. That's when we started to consider preschool. It would give her an opportunity to do something apart from us and to meet some friends that may carry over into her kindergarten class (I specifically looked for a preschool that would feed into our elementary school). On that October day last fall when we went to look at the preschool and meet the teacher, Bella was very quiet and had tears in her eyes. Later I learned that she thought I'd be leaving her there that day. In the months that followed, we talked up preschool as much as possible. Some days she felt brave and excited. Other days she cried and told me that she didn't want to go.During these past few months, however, I've noticed a big change in Bella. She's really started to come out of her shell. She's more talkative with others and more willing (and even wanting) to have a babysitter. Ever since July, she's been ready for school to start. It helped that we found out a church friend would be in her class.

Here she is in her classroom today - her very first day. This was the only photo that she'd allow me to take there. I left a happy little girl at preschool. One who was ready to venture out into this world (or at least a small part of it) on her own.

The only tears were mine.

It's the beginning of letting go.

Here are Bella's thoughts on her first day of preschool:
